OTHER PROJECTS - 3

There was already an existing border next to the patio and an island bed.  In the border next to the patio was a good looking Berberis, so the planting was designed around this.  I reshaped the border from having straight lines to a curved front to fit in with the curves elsewhere in the garden.  The colour scheme is predominately bold reds, pinks and purples, giving most of its colour during summer and early autumn.

I then continued some of the colour scheme to lead the eye to the newly planted island bed.  This already had a healthy bright pink Ice Plant and clump of Daylillies, so I added a few extra plants in shades of purples and oranges to give it more interest.  A statue was also included into the new bed which provides a good focal point throughout the year, supplemented with colour in summer and early autumn.

The rear border was originally planted with conifers and a shrub. I changed the shape of the border slightly to bring it more into the garden, added an orange dogwood to compliment a red dogwood nearby, and then planted the rest of the area with ferns, astilbes and hellebores to give spring colour and different shapes and heights in the summer.
