OTHER PROJECTS - 1

The idea of this planting design was to link three borders together in the garden by using perennial plants around existing trees and shrubs.

The plants chosen give interest from spring into autumn, and each border is linked to another either by using the same type of plant but in different colours, or by repeating colours in the garden.

Autumn - some ferns have been added to lead the eye further under the willow tree and act as a backdrop to the planting in front.

The original shrubs still provide the backbone to the more recent planting, however, some of the plants will keep their leaves during the winter and give added interest to the original planting, along with the variety of daffodils that have been planted to provide extra seasonal colour in the spring.

These photos show the springtime planting under the willow tree now it is becoming more established, including pink bleeding hearts, epimediums with their dainty flowers and hellebores.

The summer after planting shows plants filling out with colour from the original and new bold crocosmias, together with the more dainty penstemons and heuchera flowers.
