Springtime - click images to enlarge These images show wallflowers giving early colour as the perennials are starting to grow. When the wallflowers have finished flowering, they are taken out, leaving the perennials on full show to flower throughout the summer into the autumn.

Early Summer - click images to enlarge Early summer in the corner bed. Now the wallflowers have finished flowering and been taken out, you can see where the perennials are growing again after dying back in the winter. The white spiraea makes a stunning backdrop for the pink bleeding hearts, and the lady statue is now becoming surrounded by geraniums, poppies and irises, with roses to follow later in the summer. |
|
There is still some interest in this garden even in autumn, with leaves changing colour in the Viburnum and attractive flower heads on the Sedums. Wallflowers have been added to give bright colour next spring. |
Some of the seed heads were left on over winter and this made the border look pretty even when snow had fallen on it.
